Loving Kindness

Despite months and at least thrice daily research to find a new home for Gavin and me, I’m exactly where I didn’t want to be five weeks from my lease ending—nowhere. And I found a new lump in his mouth last night that he’s getting checked out tomorrow.

My brain is simultaneously in overdrive and out of gas, so I’m sharing words that resonate with me right now. The below prayer is my rendition of the metta mantra of loving-kindness from the Buddhist tradition that I repeatedly say during uncertain times.

May I be happy.
May I be well.
May I be safe.
May I be at peace.
May I be free from suffering.
May I be at ease.
May I always believe in my hopes and dreams.

May you be happy.
May you be well.
May you be safe.
May you be at peace.
May you be free from suffering.
May you be at ease.
May you always believe in your hopes and dreams.

May all beings be happy.
May all beings be well.
May all beings be safe.
May all beings be at peace.
May all beings be free from suffering.
May all beings be at ease.
May all beings always believe in their hopes and dreams.

It’s a beautiful night here in Columbus, so the boy and I are off to enjoy some downtime in the backyard. I hope you have a fantastic evening with your dog(s) doing whatever you love doing together.
