House of Love

House of Love

Can you believe my nicknames used to be Twerpinator, Mabel Gator, and Shark Mabel?

No matter how much enrichment, training, chews, or play, I’d whirl then throttle myself at my human teeth first at night or run, pounce, and nibble her ear when she worked out. My human used to keep toys in her pocket so she could redirect my bite blasts, and she’d always say, “In this house, we love.”

I don’t know what that means, but she didn’t get mad. It must be tough for you humans before you know if we’ll guard, eat a big chunk, get an upset tummy, or break a tooth on a toy or chew.

These days, I may get a little too excited when she does pilates. She’s on the floor; how can I not think she wants to play? But I quickly go to my place or grab my bully stick when she asks. Okay, it may take a few tries, but I’m such a good girl, and I eventually get it.

Last winter, my human used to lift the blanket to see if I wanted to snuggle underneath. I ensured she knew it was a big “heck no” by sitting and staring at her. But now, I ask for under-blanket snuggles all the time.

My human says it’s the best when I circle, hum, and nestle as close to her as possible so we can cuddle under a big, cozy comforter while she drinks her coffee in the morning, reads, or watches TV at night. She says our house feels so full of love in those moments; her heart is whole, and everything seems good.

We hope your home and heart are full of love, too.
