Courage

My human and I must move every morning, but it’s been so cold here. So, we’ve been walking around Lowe’s, making friends, grabbing stuff we need, and training. She said our hardware store strolls are helping my loose leash walking and attention around distractions.

This nice couple wanted to say hi to me on Wednesday, so I wiggled up to them and sat on their feet. Then, I stood up and tucked my tail, looking at my human. The lovely people overlooked my uncertainty, but my human didn’t miss my mistrust. When she walked us towards the door, my speeding up told her it was time to go.

My human doesn’t know what changed my disposition that day, but we played tug of war when we got home. I got a lick mat with a fried egg on it, and I was back to my sassy, silly self.

Humans may have fears—everyone does—but there may be more options than fleeing or fighting things that scare you.

Maybe you flex your fortitude by processing your fear, anger, frustration, and all valid emotions under a big blanket with a cup of tea (or something stronger) and us next to you so you can be ready to shine your light and love in a world that needs compassion and kindness.

You could showcase your strength by sharing your soft, sweet soul with anyone and everyone you encounter.

Or, you could find like-minded, loving people with the heart, energy, and tenacity to stand for and share love, beauty, generosity, and helping hands with those who need it most.

Be strong with love, courageous with compassion, and hearty with a big, open, soft heart.
